Composites United is pleased to welcome hyjoin GmbH as a new member of the CU network. The innovative deep-tech manufacturing company delivers market-ready industrial solutions and develops AI-enabled systems for the direct joining of metal and plastic – in seconds, without adhesives, screws or curing time.
At the core of the company’s technology is hyJOIN®, a thermal direct joining process: the pre-treated metal is heated precisely enough that the plastic melts on contact. Once cooled, the two materials form a durable hybrid bond. When reheated, the joint can be separated again cleanly for reuse or recycling.
HYJOIN’s technology has already demonstrated tested performance, including 15–30 MPa strength according to DIN EN 1465, confirmed aging stability according to PV1209 and media tightness up to 30 bar. The process works across a wide range of materials, from commodity plastics to high-performance polymers and from aluminum to titanium.

coreJOIN® and coreSUPPLY® integrate into existing production lines. varioJOIN® handles flexible, low-volume production. giroJOIN® and atroJOIN® cover high-throughput and fully automated series production. laserTREAT® prepares the metal surface for maximum joint strength.
Why it matters now
The EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and the End-of-Life Vehicle directive are making re-separable, recyclable connections a requirement, not a preference. HYJOIN’s thermal direct joining technology offers an important advantage in light of these growing requirements, as joints can be separated again cleanly for reuse or recycling. The company can be in series production within a couple of months — today, not eventually.
