Low Melt Polyaryletherketone (LMPAEK) has been formulated by Victrex to have similar chemical resistance and high-temperature performance as Polyetheretherketone (PEEK), but with a lower melting temperature (305°C vs. 343°C for PEEK). The polymer matrix offers a wide processing window with increased laydown speeds over unidirectional tapes made with other PAEK matrices. The presentation provides an insight into a series of processing trials with LMPAEK-based prepreg, pushing the boundaries of automated thermoplastic tape and fibre placement (ATP/AFP) for out-of-autoclave and in-situ consolidation.
