Ceramic Composites is an association of companies and research institutes in the field of ceramic composites. The network is part of the Composites United e.V. Together, the members of Ceramic Composites cover the entire value chain from R&D, intermediate products (fibers and matrices), manufacturing, application to the finished product.
Ceramic composites have their potential where high operating temperatures are associated with high mechanical stress and, in some cases, oxidizing environmental conditions. Brake disks in vehicle construction, heat protection in spacecraft, components in furnace construction and crucibles for crystal growth are examples of applications that have already been developed.
The aim of the Ceramic Composites network is also to develop new applications in future markets and to create the scientific and technical prerequisites for this.
The network was founded in November 2008 and is based in Augsburg. The members are currently mainly concentrated in Southern Germany but are not limited to this region.
If you have competence in the value chain of ceramic composites and want to expand it in a broad-based competence network, you are welcome as a member of Ceramic Composites.
Specific working groups of the network
In the Ceramic Composites network, various working groups have been initiated to work on selected key topics across the entire process chain.
- AG Production and Materials
- AG Finishing CMC surface technology CMC/CFK
- AG Evaluation and Simulation
- AG Roadmap
The records of the working group meetings were distributed to the contact persons designated by the members. All further information is available as a presentation for the members in Carbon Connected.
The joint committee “Fiber Reinforced Ceramics” of DGM, DKG and the department Ceramic Composites is coordinated by Prof. Dietmar Koch, DLR (BT) Stuttgart.
