During the annual general meeting in October 2022, the members of the Ceramic Composites Network of Composite United e. V. elected their Executive Board for the next two years. We congratulate all members of the new board and look forward to working with them.

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Koch

Prof. Koch holds the Chair of Materials Engineering at the Institute of Materials Resource Management (MRM) at the University of Augsburg. In his vision, CMCs will make a significant contribution to making technical processes energy-efficient in the future. For this goal, he would like to motivate the members of Composites United and Ceramic Composites to share their know-how, bundle their competences and initiate collaborative projects for industrial applications.

Phillip Goetz

Philipp Goetz studied “Industrial Engineering and Management” at the University of Applied Sciences Kempten and is the Managing Director and owner of CVT GmbH & Co. KG. In Ceramic Composites, he focuses on the topic of networking and trusting, pre-competitive cooperation to successfully establish CMC applications on the market.

Ralph Hufschmied

Ralph Hufschmied, who studied mechanical engineering, is the founder and managing partner of Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH. As a member of the board, he aims to further develop CMC ceramics and fiber-plastic composite materials into equal and recognized engineering materials and bring them into broad, cost-effective industrial applications.

Linda Klopsch

Linda Klopsch is head (com.) of the “Ceramic Composite Structures” department at DLR’s Institute of Structures and Design in Stuttgart. For her, cooperative research to diversify and establish fiber-reinforced ceramics in new application areas is of great importance. She wants to promote networking between science and industry and create a social environment in which CMCs are seen and recognized as contributing to a sustainable future.

Dr. Florian Reichert

The materials scientist is head of “Composites Development” at Schunk Kohlenstofftechnik GmbH and has the vision that the German fiber ceramics industry will play a leading role worldwide, from research to industrialization and application. In order for this to succeed and for CMC to make a decisive contribution to the green transformation of industry and society, he would like to strengthen cooperation in the network as well as increase the visibility of CMC materials.

Dr. Stephan Schmidt-Wimmer

Dr. Schmidt-Wimmer is the Company Expert in Ceramic Matrix Composites and Process Technology as well as Head of High Temperature Materials & Processes at ArianGroup. He would like to see the national or European consolidation of activities in the field of CMC beyond the typical space applications in order to better focus national CMC competencies worldwide as well as to demonstrate the ecological and economic attractiveness of such material systems and to increase the global visibility of CMC materials.

The newly elected members of the Executive Board subsequently named Prof. Dr. Dietmar Koch as their Chairman once again.
