German-Japanese exchange in the field of composites further strengthened

Insight into the current ICC newsletter (Vol. 4, March 2025)

The current newsletter of the Innovative Composite Center (ICC) provides exciting insights into the latest developments in the Japanese-German composite network. The focus is on, among other things, technological innovations, international collaborations, and significant industry events:

🔹 New strategic collaboration:

With the launch of the Innovation Platform FIP-MIRAI@ICC, a five-year collaboration between the Fraunhofer IGCV and the ICC is established. The goal is to develop future-oriented recycling processes for CFRP – a contribution to the circular economy in the field of high-performance composite materials. This new collaboration was announced in March 2025 at JEC World in Paris in the Japan Pavilion.

🔹 Professional networking and exchange

The 86th ICC Forum, the Composite Highway Convention and the SAMPE Japan Exhibition 2024 testify to the intensive professional cooperation in the Asian region and beyond. Further international formats have already been announced for December 2025.

🔹 Technological progress from Japan

Learn more about carbon nanotube (CNT) coated carbon fibers (NamdTM) for fiber-reinforced plastics and their special physical properties.

🔹 ICC celebrates 10th anniversary

With a special publication in the JEC Composites Magazine, the ICC looks back on a decade of successful networking and focuses on the future of materials.

We are pleased about these impulses from Japan and see great potential for intensified German-Japanese cooperation along the entire value chain.
