The development and design of ceramic fiber composite components is an iterative product development process due to the component-dependent material properties. The iterations are usually carried out with time-, cost- and resource-intensive sample programs, feature samples as well as demonstrator components. These are used to test feasibility, characterize materials along the component, optimize manufacturing processes and estimate manufacturing costs and times.
The working group is focused on the virtual product development of fiber ceramic components. This means with the necessary, continuous digitization, modeling and simulation of the entire product development process as well as the system integration of the models for individual applications or company divisions based on the division of labor (see figure). By holistically mapping the iterative development process in the virtual space, development times can be shortened, real tests reduced and the interactions between processes and properties taken into account.
