On September 30 and October 1, 2025, the third CU Innovation Day “Composite Repair” took place—organized by the CU Nord cluster, the German Armed Forces, and the CTC as hosts of the event, supported by the CU working group “Composite Repair.” Around 90 participants from research, industry, and the German Armed Forces took the opportunity to exchange ideas on the latest developments, technologies, and challenges in the field of fiber composite repair. This meant that interest was once again very high at the third Innovation Day in this series, following on from 2017 and 2022.

The two-day program covered a wide range of topics—from CFRP repair requirements and non-destructive testing methods to thermoplastic repair processes and practical insights into military maintenance. A particular highlight was the tour of the Faßberg Air Base, where guests gained impressive insights into maintenance, training, and deployment scenarios of the German Armed Forces.

The consistently positive feedback from speakers, exhibitors, and participants underscores the high relevance of the topic for the aviation, defense, and composite materials industries. The event has established itself and forms an important platform for the fiber composite repair community in the DACH region. Based on this success, the next CU Innovation Day “Composite Repair” is already planned for 2028. As a thank you for the great support provided by the German Armed Forces, Composites United will once again make a donation to the Soldiers’ Relief Fund.
