“Sheet Molding Compound” (SMC) have been conquering the top of the most processed fiber composite materials in Germany and Europe every year for decades. To date, however, these complex, versatile and proven materials have only been used to a minimal extent for high-performance applications. New developments in the raw materials used, the manufacturing and processing techniques are increasingly opening up the possibility of using SMC for complex and demanding products, while benefiting from the materials’ proven properties.
To support this trend through an intensive exchange between manufacturers, developers, processors and users, interested CU members can network and exchange ideas in the WG High-Perfomance SMC.
