On June 14, 22 a meeting of a working group took place in Stade for the first time this year. The productive exchange of the working group “Fiber Composites in Wind Energy” focused on the topics of sustainability and pultrusion. Almost 20 participants from all over Germany and Denmark came to Stade to meet again after a long time and to discuss current developments in the field of wind energy.

Besides established players of the working group such as Olin or Weißgerber Carbonwerke, the new member Owens Corning as well as the invited guests TPI Composites and Fiberline came together to exchange ideas on the above mentioned topics. In addition to a presentation of the currently ended UBA project “Development of deconstruction and recycling standards for rotor blades”, it was presented which contributions the matrix can make to the sustainability of a rotor blade. On the subject of pultrusion, Owens Corning and Fiberline showed current developments and trends in the industry.

In addition to the presentations, ample time was scheduled for networking, which was particularly appreciated by the participants. Dr. Bastian Brenken from CU summed up: “It was great to successfully host a working group meeting in Stade in presence again. For all the flexibility and high reach that our online formats offer, face-to-face meetings remain unrivaled in terms of the quality of the exchange.”
