From June 1 to 2, 2022, the new LightCon congress trade show for lightweight construction will celebrate its premiere in Hanover. The call for papers has now been launched for the conference, which will be held under the motto “Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy”. The event committee is looking forward to receiving interesting contributions on the topic of lightweight construction by December 31, 2022.

The premiere of LightCon had to be postponed twice due to the COVID- pandemic, but now all signals are green for the new congress trade show for lightweight construction. From June 1 to 2, 2022, the international lightweight construction community will meet at the trade fair center in Hanover. In addition to an diverse exhibition, the concept includes two conference stages where experts will present their lightweight innovations. In order to make the two-day program as attractive and interesting as possible, the call for papers has now been launched. In line with the overarching congress motto “Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy”, proposals for keynotes and presentations can be submitted until December 31, 2022.

The submissions should have a clear reference to one of the four lightweight design topics:

  • “New Material Solutions”
  • “Innovative Manufacturing Technologies”
  • “Sustainable Lightweight Engineering and Design” and
  • “Solutions and Use Cases from the User’s Perspective”.

The conference language of LightCon is English. Here you can find the Call for Papers.

“Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy”

Lightweight design is the topic of the future and, against the backdrop of the climate targets to be achieved, a real enabler technology for numerous industries. Particularly in automotive and vehicle construction, in the field of mechanical and plant engineering, aerospace, medical technology, but also in the construction industry, lightweight design offers enormous potential for saving resources and reducing overall costs. The congress motto “Lightweight Design on the Path to Circular Economy” is therefore an ideal fit, as it specifically focuses on the aspect of the circular economy. “The circular economy approach is essential for the sustainable use of resources and ensuring resource availability in the future. Applied to lightweight construction, there is immense potential for meeting the major challenge of climate change. LightCon 2022 will highlight these potentials and present exciting circular lightweight solutions,” summarizes Dr. Gunnar Merz, Chief Executive Officer of Composites United and Chairman of the LightCon Advisory Board.

LightCon is the first international lightweight construction platform that combines the aspects of material, process, function and design, presents all lightweight construction materials and technologies, and shows hybrid sustainable lightweight construction solutions. In addition, the focus is on solutions for all user industries of lightweight construction. LightCon is thus the first trade fair to enable direct comparison of different materials and processes and thus ideally supports users in finding the right lightweight construction solutions for them.
