Engineering service provider LZS GmbH and testing service provider IMA GmbH sign strategic cooperation agreement for the joint development of hydrogen storage technologies
In September 2020, the Managing Directors of the Dresden-based companies Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH (LZS), Dr.-Ing. Karsten Wippler, and IMA Materialforschung und Anwendungstechnik GmbH (IMA Dresden), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Fleischer, have signed a cooperation agreement that enables both partners to cover the entire development chain for hydrogen storage technologies.
Both companies will collaborate in the future in the field of hydrogen storage technologies in order to complement their respective service portfolios and thus jointly address a larger customer base and market. In this context, LZS GmbH will contribute its engineering expertise to the cooperation. The focus lies on feasibility studies, conceptual tasks, design, sizing and simulation as well as the accompanying material characterization for the determination of base values. Within the scope of the cooperation, IMA Dresden’s area of competence lies primarily in the field of component and system testing including non-destructive examinations as well as in the field of certification and approval of hydrogen storage tanks and related systems. A further focus of IMA Dresden is the structural monitoring of hydrogen storage systems during the application phase.
“I am pleased that we have found a strong engineering partner for our hydrogen activities and beyond in LZS. Our customers worldwide appreciate a comprehensive development offer from the idea to the application.”, summarizes Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fleischer the cooperation. Dr.-Ing. Wippler adds: “With IMA Dresden as our partner, we can now test and approve complex systems well beyond the prototype status and thus provide the customer with a marketable and competitive product”.
