Webseminar Wednesday: 3D printed salt cores for the manufacturing of complex/hollow monolithic CFRP parts

Time:
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The manufacturing of complex and hollow carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) components remains a challenge due to limitations in tooling, demolding, and design freedom. This presentation introduces 3D-printed, water-soluble salt cores enabling intricate internal geometries in monolithic composite parts. The approach, developed from ETH spin-off sallea AG, allows the production of integrated structures without secondary bonding while remaining compatible with established processes such as autoclaving, RTM and vacuum bagging. It opens new opportunities for lightweight design, functional integration, and more efficient composite manufacturing.
