For nearly three decades, the International Dresden Lightweight Construction Symposium has served as a central platform for interdisciplinary dialogue between academia, industry, and government. In keeping with this tradition, the 29th edition directly links excellent basic research with practical applications in key industries – from automotive engineering to the energy sector.
Inspired by this year’s partner region in the Baltic Sea area, the concept of a modern “Technology Hanse” is taken up. Unlike pure commodity trade, however, the Technology Hanse is much more about building specialized value-added networks. Digitalization and secure data spaces are necessary tools in this context, but the foundation of the alliance remains engineering excellence: The ability to realize highly complex physical products through cross-material collaboration – products that would not be possible for any individual to create alone.
